Terms & Conditions
1. Your contract with us
When you sign the Rental Agreement form you accept the conditions set out below. Read this carefully. If there is anything you do not understand or do not agree with, please ask.
2. Definitions
HIRER: the person(s) who drive the vehicle(s).
CUSTOMER: the Person(s) paying for the hire.
OWNER: Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. (Courtyard Classics)
3. Insurance Policy Cover
When we arrange insurance, we will give you information on the insurance cover and any restrictions which may apply. By signing this agreement you are accepting the conditions of our insurance. The vehicle insurance cover is fully comprehensive and roadside assistance/recovery is provided. It is the Hirer’s responsibility to take all reasonable steps to ensure the car is locked and secure when unattended and to use all security devices supplied with the car.
PERSONS ENTITLED TO DRIVE: The Hirer or any person permitted by the Owner to drive the insured vehicle whilst on hire provided that the person driving holds a licence to drive the vehicle. A copy of the driving licence for each person who may drive will be taken before the vehicle is permitted to go out on hire. Secondary proof of address for the main driver will be required. Courtyard Classics reserves the right to refuse to hire any of the vehicles at its own discretion.
ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, FIRE AND THEFT: The Hirer must cover an excess charge of €2,500 on any claim. The Insurers do NOT offer any form of ‘Collision or Loss Damage Waiver’ (CDW) option to reduce this excess. A refundable deposit will be required on the first day of hire to cover this excess, by pre-authorisation on a credit card only.
For insurance reasons some of our vehicles are fitted with trackers to protect them against theft and/or, misuse. By signing our Rental Agreement the Hirer agrees to the vehicle’s movements being tracked and recorded by the Owners.
Your own insurance
We will not hire a car out under your own insurance.
4. CHOICE OF CAR or ADVERSE WEATHER
In the event of unavailability of a chosen car due to mechanical or other problems beyond our control (including civil unrest and strike action), or adverse weather conditions (generally ice, snow or serious flooding) the Owner will inform the Hirer and offer either an alternative car or an alternative date.
5. Additional Driver / Operator
The person named on the booking must be the main driver, present at time of rental and payer of any rental charges.
Additional drivers are possible with a fee of EUR 45.00 (including tax) per day and per additional driver.
6. Restrictions and Exemptions
At the time of rental the driver must present a full valid national driver’s licence which has been held for at least two years.
PERSONS NOT INSURED TO DRIVE: the Insurers will not cover anyone who:
a) Is under 25 or over 70 years of age
b) Has not held a full driving licence for cars with the appropriate gearbox for over 24 months (see Drivers Licence section below)
c) Has been refused any motor insurance or had special Insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience or had their insurance cancelled by any Motor Insurer
d) Has been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motor cycle and has had their licence suspended or had their licence endorsed with more than 9 points in the last 5 years
e) Whilst driving, has been involved in more than one accident during the past 3 years
f) Has any mental or physical defect or infirmity (please ask about medical conditions, e.g. diabetes, heart disease, as these will be considered individually by the insurer)
g) Certain occupations are subject to individual submission for approval by the Insurer
If you have accumulated more than 7 conviction points in the last 5 years, you will have to pay a small surcharge for insurance. NB: For this insurance, accidents count as 2 points.

7. Rental period
The Hirer will have the vehicle for the rental period shown in the agreement. We may agree to extend this rental period but the rental period may never be more than 28 days. If you do not bring the vehicle back on time, you are breaking the conditions of this agreement and you will not be insured. If you are unavoidably delayed, you must advise us before the hire period runs out, so that we can arrange additional insurance cover. We can charge you for every day or part day you have the vehicle after you should have returned it to us. Until we get the vehicle back we will charge you the standard daily rate.
HOURS OF HIRE: Single day hire is for any length of time between the hours of 09.00 and 20.00. Multiple days hire are between 09.00 on the first day and 20.00 on the last day.
8. Amendments, Cancellation, No Show – Lost Rental
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. applies Cancellation and No Show/Lost Rental charges on all bookings.
CHANGES TO BOOKINGS
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. allows you to make changes to a booking:
Any change to a booking will be recalculated based on the availability and prices at the time the change is made. This may be greater or lesser than the price originally booked.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellation charges will apply as follows:
1. 14 or more days prior to hire date: €20.
2. Less than 14 days prior to hire date – No refund on car hire
(Any picnic charge may be refundable over 3 days prior to the hire date).
3. Refunds will be made to the credit card that the original booking was made on.
CHANGES AT TIME OF PICK UP
If at the time of vehicle collection you wish to rent a different car or rent for a longer period, you may do so, subject to availability, on payment of additional charges. Such charges may be at a higher rate than those previously quoted.
NO SHOWS/LOST RENTALS:
If you fail to cancel your booking prior to the Pick Up Time and do not collect the vehicle on the Pick Up Date, we reserve the right to make a No Show/Lost Rental Charge of EUR 95.00 which recovers our administration costs and compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle when it was reserved for your use.
EARLY RETURN
Please note that we are unable to give a refund if you return the vehicle early.
9. Delivery / Collection service
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. does not normally offer a delivery and collection service. Cars are picked up at our base and returned there at the end of the hire. We will consider delivery and/or collection where cars are hired for weddings and we may consider offering this service also for customers travelling to Ireland from abroad. The cost of this service is quoted on a case by case basis when we have sufficient details.
10. Driver’s License
At the time of rental the driver must present a full valid national driver’s licence, which has been held for at least 2 years.
UK Customer’s holding a photocard driver’s Licence must remember that the photocard and paper counterpart make up the complete driver’s licence and both must be produced when renting a vehicle.
For licences not in English & Non – European Union licences, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is highly recommended. The IDP translates the national driver’s licence into various languages and is not accepted without the national licence. Acceptance of a Non – European Union licence is subject to approval by our insurers.

11. Driving Restrictions
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. vehicles may be driven into Northern Ireland with no restrictions.
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. vehicles may not be driven into other countries.
Should these restrictions be ignored all insurance shall be deemed, null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of accidents and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.
We have an unlimited mileage policy within the island of Ireland.
12. Charges
We work out our Hire Charges using our current price list. You will pay the following:
1. The rental and any other charges we work out according to this agreement.
2. Any charge for loss or damage, or extra cleaning, resulting from you not keeping to the Conditions. Spare parts and external labour will be charged at cost and our own labour charged at €25 per hour plus VAT.
3. A refuelling service charge if you have used, and not replaced, more fuel than we supplied originally.
4. Any AA callout charges when the breakdown service is used unnecessarily.
5. Toll Charges for M50 “No Barrier Toll”. For detail see section on Toll Fees below.
6. All fines and court costs for parking, congestion charges, traffic or other offences (including any costs which arise if the vehicle is clamped). You must pay the appropriate authority any fines and costs if and when the authority demands this payment.
7. lf you do not pay any of these charges, you will be responsible to pay our reasonable administration costs, and any debt collection charges, which arise.
8. The full cost of repairing or replacing the vehicle if it is damaged or stolen (even if it is not your fault), if and when we demand this payment.
9. A loss-of-income charge, when we demand it, if we cannot rent out the vehicle because it needs to be repaired, it is a write-off (cannot be repaired) or it has been stolen and we are waiting to receive full payment of the vehicle’s value.
10. We will only charge you for loss of income if we can’t get back the losses from our insurers. We will charge you at the published daily rate and will not charge you for more than 28 days’ rental charges. We will always do everything we can to make sure the vehicle is repaired or we get payment as soon as possible.
13. Forms of Payment
The following forms of payment are accepted when booking on the websites: most major credit cards, some debit cards*
* If you made your booking with a debit card, you will need to present the debit card and one or more credit card (depending on the vehicle group) when picking-up the vehicle.
The person in whose name the vehicle is booked MUST be the person whose credit card is used.
Exceptions:
– third party bookings provided the booking is made in the name of a qualified renter (person who picks up the vehicle),
– Corporate account bookings – requirements for corporate account customers may vary. Please contact us for details.
The renter MUST produce the same credit card when picking up the vehicle that was used for the booking for identification and security reasons. If the card originally used has expired, been lost/stolen, you must produce the replacement card from the same card issuer. The card must be in your name and the issue/expiry dates should correspond to those of the original card.
At the time of rental an authorisation is obtained on your credit card. There must be sufficient credit on your card to cover all charges.
Vouchers
Vouchers are accepted only if they cover the rental charges, otherwise they can only be used as a second form of payment. A credit card is required in conjunction with a Full Credit Vouchers.
In the event of traffic violations being incurred during the rental, a charge will be processed to your credit card.
14. Passport Information
Domestic renters and EU nationals will need to present a valid national identity card or a passport as photographic identification.
Non EU nationals will need to present an international passport in roman alphabet as proof of identity.

15. Refuelling
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. rates do not include fuel.
All Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. vehicles are rented with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank or a local refuelling charge of 10% with a minimum of €5 will apply in addition to the cost of the fuel.
16. Taxes
All rates are subject to a Government tax (VAT)
17. Toll Fees
TOLL FEES ON THE DUBLIN M50 MOTORWAY
The National Roads Authority has introduced a ‘No Barrier Tolling” system on the Dublin M50 motorway between Junction 6 (N3 Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (N4 Lucan). There is no toll barrier or tolling booth stand therefore no cash payment facility at the tolling point.
All Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. vehicles have been registered with the Toll Operator and therefore Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. will be charged automatically for each toll incurred.
A Toll Fee of EUR 3.00 per usage will be charged to you by Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd..
Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. will be advised after the rental of the toll charge accrued for each rental and will charge your credit card separately.
IMPORTANT: Please do not pay these charges directly as this will result in duplicate payment which will be impossible to identify.
All other Toll Roads
Please note cash payment facilities are available at tolling booths on all other toll roads in Ireland.
18. What to do if you have an accident
If you have an accident you must not admit responsibility. You should get the names and addresses of everyone involved, including witnesses. You should also:
• call The Owner straight away;
• make the vehicle secure;
• tell the Gardai straight away: if anyone is injured; if there is a disagreement over who is responsible; or if you believe the other party is not insured.
• You must then fill in our accident report form and return it to us. Photos are useful evidence.
19. Force Majeure
Conditions outside the Control of Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd. (Force Majeure)
If it is impracticable for Courtyard Classic Cars Limited to perform any of its obligations as the result of events or conditions beyond its control Courtyard Classic Cars Limited will promptly refund to you, without any deduction for loss or damages, the charge that had been collected from you in respect of the transaction and Courtyard Classic Cars Limited will have no further obligations with respect to the transaction.
General Conditions outside the Control of the Customer
If it is impracticable for you to perform any of your obligations as the result of general events or conditions beyond your control, then Courtyard Classic Cars Limited will promptly refund to you, without any deduction for damages, the charge that had been collected from you in respect of the transaction and you will have no further obligations with respect to the transaction. You should note, however, that events and conditions that are beyond your control but that are not general in nature, including, without limitation, the condition of your health and the health of those travelling with you, will not excuse your performance of your obligations under a booking; you should consider travel insurance or similar arrangements to protect you against unforeseen events and conditions that are specific to you and those travelling with you.

Please note that since notices are not effective until they are actually received by Courtyard Classic Cars Ltd., time should be allowed for letters that are posted.
